Roll n' Grow
This game was solo developed for the GMTK Game Jam 2022, with the theme of Roll of the Dice, so I made this little city builder, which I did have more ideas for, but life got in the way so this is what I have after messing around in unity for a little under 16 hours straight developin'.
The song in the Game is from my other game called Last Hope.
If you Struggle to Understand whats happening here's some information:
- In the Top Right, you will see 3 different numbers which are each different resource types, which correspond with the costs above buildings in the little menu at the bottom, which are the numbers above the picture,
- In the Residential tab, all buildings have a little icon and number below the image, this is the number of people the building houses.
- Under the Commercial and Industrial Tabs you will see similar numbers below, these are the number of people who can work there.
- All the little people that wander around are homeless people, you need to supply a house, and then you will also need to have room for them to work.
- When the score hits zero, that is game over and the highscore number it gives is the amount of days survived (you can share that in the comments if you want to try and flex on other gamers.)
Lastly the Scoring system has a few baselines that allow you to gain or lose points.
(Each of these 3 can gain or lose you 50 points per day, depending on performance)
- The First scoring section is population growth, which is set that your city should maintain 20% growth
- Employment should be at 80% employed to have no negative or positive effect
- Homelessness should be kept at 30% to have no negative impact
The Fourth one is Time Based, if you take under a minute per day you can gain up to 20 points whereas if you take longer than a minute you can lose 20 points.
have fun, it's not my best work in terms of graphics but that would have been fixed with a few more hours of time, which I didn't have.
I'll Be Making a little video on this, which will be found on the
